Education:
AML holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Commerce, Major in Management, and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA), both from the University of Santo Tomas in the Philippines. 
 
Special Courses:
He completed a Tourism and Hotel Management courses at the East-West Center, University of Hawaii, Honolulu, Hawaii, and Cornell University, Ithaca, New York, USA.

Awards:

• Outstanding Alumnus, 1983 – University of Santo Tomas (UST); 

• 1990, he was recognized and awarded a grant for Best Practice in Total Quality Management and Enterprise Agreement, the first in Australia, by the Australian Federal Government.  He was personally awarded by the then Australian Prime Minister Paul Keating.  The Enterprise Agreement (Collective Bargaining Agreement) became the benchmark throughout the different labor sectors or industry in Australia even today.

• St. Antoninus of Florence Award 2000 – “continuing benchmarking towards global excellence in the field of International Hotel management”, University of Santo Tomas (UST) Graduate School and the UST Graduate School Alumni Association.  

• SKAL International, October 2004 – Makati, “Hotel Personality of the Year 2004” in recognition of his “outstanding achievements and brilliant contributions in the Philippine Travel and Tourism Industry and of creating a world class corporate image of his fellowmen.”

• Most Outstanding Ruby Jubilarian (High School), December 2004, Ateneo de Zamboanga University, Zamboanga City, Mindanao, Philippines

• City Mayor’s Commendation in International Hotel Management, February 2005, Zamboanga City, Philippines

• Centennial Award of Distinction in Tourism, Rotary Club of Manila, March 2005

• 2nd Tourism Award of Distinction by the Rotary Club of Manila, 18 May 2006

• 19th September 2013, UST Commerce Outstanding Alumni 2013 in the field of Business Management (BSC Management 1968).  This was in recognition of his having shown professional excellence, exemplary moral and Christian conduct in his chosen field, living the true Thomasian legacy

• 21st September 2013, he received the Certificate of Recognition in the Field of Business Management BSC Management 1968, “in grateful appreciation for giving pride, honor and prestige to UST College Alumni Foundation as well as living the true Thomasian legacy”.

• 6th October 2016, Risks, Opportunities, Assessment and Management (ROAM) Inc., competed seminar on Corporate Governance  

• 29th June 2017, Rotary Club of Manila, Outstanding in Club Service Award, Director RY 2016-2017, Chairman – House Committee, for efficiently managing the concerns of the Club and its member during its weekly membership meetings
